Job introduction

The Commercial Assurance team have an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of consistent business and governance processes for the Commercial function, develop a revised and centralised training programme and the continued assurance to ensure/validate improvements are being made.

The role of Quantity Surveyor is responsible for providing accurate and value generating input to projects. The role ensures that all commercial aspects are carried out in accordance with the contract, company policies and procedures, and to the satisfaction of the customer and/or contract leader. This role may work independently or under the direction of a more senior Quantity Surveyor. The QS will be able to demonstrate the ability to function as a member of an integrated team.

Role responsibility

  • CEMAR Superuser - Overseeing user access, contract setup, and resolution of system related issues.
  • Commercial Intranet Admin - Maintaining and updating commercial information and resources to support project teams
  • Commercial Assurance Mailbox Management - Monitoring and responding to queries
  • Delegated Authority Register - Updating the register and associated letters to ensure compliance with governance requirements.
  • Support for Subcontract Commercial Assurance - Assisting with reviews and reporting to maintain oversight of subcontractor performance and adherence to commercial standards.
  • Supporting the Development of Commercial Processes specific to the SCS Project.
  • Inputting to the development of Governance Processes.
  • Creating and supporting the roll-out of Training Material in relation to SCS processes and NEC contracts.
  • Ensuring Commercial Assurance reporting is maintained accurately and timely to SCS Management.
  • Ongoing liaison with site teams, and commercial teams, to ensure Commercial Assurance Actions are demonstrably closed out.
  • Provide contractual advice to the project / site teams as and when appropriate.
  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

We are looking for QS's who have the following attributes:

  • Ability to take a strategic and long-term view.
  • General interest in the development/improvement of commercial processes.
  • Appreciation for big data, the power and efficiencies that can be gained from it.
  • Passion for developing and training the future commercial generation.
  • Ideally, the candidate brings along experience of managing suppliers/subcontractors and possesses demonstrable experience or knowledge of the NEC3 suite of contracts.

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction subject

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
