Job introduction

This is a BIM Manager – MEP & Architectural position with overall accountability for the coordination, compliance and assurance of all model-based information held in ProjectWise, ensuring it meets SCS / HS2 digital-delivery requirements. Based at North Acton and making periodic visits to both the eastern and western worksites, you will report to the Head of Deadhouses and the MEP Design Manager. You will be managing the seconded team of MEP and AFO BIM coordinators who support the Design integrator with Clash detection and meeting the HS2 BIM requirements. The team is currently supervising LOD 4 outputs from the Design House and will guide the supply chain through LOD 5 production; you are responsible for making sure every contributor remains fully compliant with the SCS BIM Execution Plan and associated standards

Role responsibility

  • Coordination, assurance and Implementation of BIM/ CAD in accordance with the SCS BIM Execution Plan. Assurance of CAD Quality and reporting CAD quality issues to the MEP sub-contractors Supporting the two DI PIM Leads to ensure CAD and BIM information is managed in line with the proposed work breakdown structure. Development and maintenance of SCS CAD Standards for construction information. Admin management of Bentley Projectwise for the project Support and promote CAD Training with engineers, graduates and apprentices Management and configuration of AECOSim data groups Day to day management of a team of CAD technicians. 
  • Facilitating and Managing the BIM information exchange processes among SCS project team members, HS2, subcontractors and suppliers, including the efficient exchange of information through the CDE for the allocated lot. 
  • Manage and support a team of dedicated BIM, & Asset Information Management resource in order to deliver to the Employer’s Information Requirements 
  • Sharing and Managing the PIM (Project Information Model) and AIM (Asset Information Model) for the lot via the CDE as described in the BEP
  • Assist the Integration Manager with managing interfaces with other functional teams including, but not limited to: estimation, planning, construction execution and supply chain 
  • Assist the Supply Chain Education Team in providing relevant upskilling in software program as well as standards methods and procedures in order to ensure that the supply chain have the necessary background and competencies to deliver to the Contractor’s Information Requirements to allow information exchange within the CDE as well as BIM workflows
  • Providing support to the supply chain to fulfil the Contractors Information Requirements, including producing a Supply Chain BIM Execution Plan 
  • Responsible for supporting Head of BIM for the development of the BIM strategy, environment, procedures and model structures for varies components and assets.
  • Liaising with other SCS lot BIM teams as well as other Phase One MWCC lots packages to ensure sharing of best practice, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Facilitating and Managing the BIM information exchange processes among SCS project team members, HS2, subcontractors and suppliers, including the efficient exchange of information through the CDE. 
  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

The ideal candidate

  • Degree or equivalent in civil engineering or an appropriate professional qualification
  • Prior experience in a leading BIM function in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of the development and implementation of BEPs and BIM processes
  • Thorough knowledge of the UK BIM Framework: BS1192 and PAS1192 standards 
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO 19650 parts 1 and 2
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • CAD experience 2D/3D in Bentley and Autodesk environment
  • CSCS card is desirable
  • Knowledge of Asset Information Management Systems is desirable
  • Knowledge of FME is desirable

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
